Cover-Up Tattoos in Las Vegas: Walk In for an Honest Look

Got a tattoo you're done looking at? An ex's name, a faded piece from years back, or a cheap tattoo from another shop that didn't come out right? We cover and fix tattoos every week at Gold Tattoo. Walk in to either of our shops on Las Vegas Blvd and one of our tattooers will look at it with you and tell you straight what can be done.

Walk in for the consult

No appointments, no deposits. Come in, show us the tattoo, and tell us what you want instead. We'll look at the size, how dark the old ink is, and where it sits on your body. Then you get an honest answer and a price before anything starts. If it's a good candidate, we can often start the same visit.

What we can cover

Most cover-ups work when the new design is bigger and darker than the old one. Good candidates:

  • Names and lettering. Usually easy to bury under a new design.
  • Faded or blurry tattoos. Light, worn-out ink gives us room to work.
  • Small, simple pieces. Stars, hearts, symbols, small tribal.
  • Cheap work from other shops. Shaky lines, uneven shading, blowouts that went off the line. Sometimes it's a full cover. Sometimes it's a rework, cleaning up the lines and adding shading so the original design finally looks the way it should.

Fixing cheap work

If you got a tattoo somewhere else and it didn't turn out, you're not stuck with it. We fix bad lines, fill in patchy color, and rework designs that were rushed. We won't trash the shop that did it. We'll just tell you what we can do and do it right.

The honest part

Not every tattoo can be covered in one go, and we won't pretend it can.

  • Very dark or solid black tattoos are hard to cover with anything but something darker and bigger.
  • The new design usually has to be larger than the old one. A tiny cover-up over a big tattoo doesn't work.
  • Some cover-ups take more than one session.

We'd rather tell you that up front than put a design over something it can't hide.

Price

Cover-ups start at $150. The final price depends on size, how dark the old tattoo is, and how much detail the new design needs. You get the price at the counter before we start. See our tattoo prices page for how pricing works across the shop.

Picking a new design

You can bring your own idea, or pick something off the flash wall and have us size it up. We do $10 tattoos, but most cover-ups need a design built around the old tattoo, so they're usually priced as custom work. More on that on our services page. Want to see who'll be working on it? Meet our tattooers.

Where to find us

Walk into either shop:

You must be 18 or older with a valid photo ID. Bring a photo of the old tattoo from when it was fresh if you have one. It helps.

Cover-up FAQ

Can any tattoo be covered up?
Most can, but not all in one session. Very dark or solid black tattoos are hardest. Walk in and we'll give you an honest answer.
Do I need an appointment for a cover-up consult?
No. We're walk-in only, with no appointments and no deposits. Come to either shop on Las Vegas Blvd and show us the tattoo.
Does the cover-up have to be bigger than my old tattoo?
Usually, yes. The new design normally needs to be larger and darker than the old one to hide it completely.
Can you fix a bad tattoo from another shop?
Yes. We fix shaky lines, patchy shading and rushed work. Sometimes that's a rework of the original design, sometimes a full cover-up.
How much does a cover-up cost?
Cover-ups start at $150. The final price depends on size, how dark the old tattoo is and the design. You get the price before we start.
